The mosque is also known with the names “Selçuk Hatun Mosque”, Abbas Ağa Mosque" and "Tahta Minare Mosque" (Wooden Minaret Mosque). The Selçuk Sultan mosque was built during the reign of Fatih Mehmet by a daughter of Sultan Mehmet I, aunt of Fatih Mehmet. She died in 1485 (she’s buried in the Yesil Türbe in Bursa) and the mosque must be from about that date. It burned partly in the 17th century and was reconstructed by the Chief Black Eunuch, Abbas Ağa. When in 1956 the Millet Caddesi was widened it was demolished and rebuilt close to its former location. It is not clear to what extent the old plan was followed.
