Several sources on the web mention this small mosque as the first built by SInan. From one I quote, condensed and translated: "It is the first known historical building of Mimar Sinan in Istanbul. However, it has lost most of its classical architectural features. The brick and stone walls were plastered. Its windows and mihrab were replaced during the repairs made in the following years. The mosque was damaged in the 1729 Balat fire and was renovated in the following years. In 1960, it was brought into its current form by an association. It underwent another major repair in 1989, and its worn walls were rebuilt with bricks. Since the roof was about to collapse, it was renovated and the ceiling was raised a little higher and made flat from concrete. The exterior is completely covered with ceramics during the last repair."
