Exterior of the mosque. A site has text, part of it reads “Visiting the mosques of Edirne is not only a great lesson on architecture and history but also an illustration how modern practical solutions can damage the pure beauty of the Ottoman buildings. This fact can be easily observed on the example of Süle Çelebi Mosque. This small mosque was built in October 1559 on the orders of its founder, known as Hacı Süle Çelebi. He also established Edirne's Kirişhane District where the mosque was erected. The first part of his name - Hacı - has a special meaning in Islam. It was a title which is initially given to a Muslim person who has successfully completed the pilgrimage (tr. hac) to Mecca. Later it was also used as an honorific title for a respected man.
The observation about “modern practical solutions” refers to the glass that now makes the porch (for people who do can not or do not wish to pray indoors) more comfortable but “defaces” the building. It can be observed on many mosques now.
