The Mesih Paşa Mosque is a lovely mosque that, maybe for that reason, is attributed to the great architect Sinan. However, the Strolling through Istanbul guide states there is no evidence for this attribution. It was founded in 1585 by the eunuch Mesih Mehmet Paşa, who was infamous for his cruelty as Governor of Egypt. When he was 90 years of age he briefly was Grand Vezir under Murat III. The guide mentions an awkward fact that struck me too: there are arcades that normally would extend the mosque to the left en right side, but they are not connected to the room of the mosque proper. Instead, you have to go out and then stare at these arcades, that I could not enter. The guide also mentions superior Iznik tiles, rightly so.
