Hasan Sezai, one of the Islamic scholars, is the founder of the Sezaiyye branch of the Halvetî-Gülşeni sect. He was born in 1669 in the town of Gördüs. Hasan Sezai died in Edirne on December 29, 1738 and was buried in a tomb built in the lodge named after him. Restoration of the Hasan Sezai Lodge started with excavations in 2007. No part of the mosque inside the lodge had survived, except for its minaret. Foundations and plan scheme of the mosque were revealed. The tomb of His Holiness Hasan Sezai was repaired, the fountain in the area was revived, the demolished masjid was rebuilt and landscaping was carried out.
